Camping @ Spicers Gap

Spicers Gap has a small campground set in a clearing on the eastern side of the Gap. From here you can access the Governors Chair lookout, Spicers Peak and mt Mathieson tracks.

facilities:

Composting toilets and picnic tables are provided. Boil or chemically treat all tap water before drinking. Fuel stoves are required for cooking, as barbecues are not provided in the campground. No bins are provided; visitors are asked to take their rubbish with them.

Spicers Peak isn't marked or sign posted, you shouldn't attempt this walk unless you have a high level of physical fitness, navigational skills and cliff scrambling skills. The track starts at the Governors Chair car park, from the lookout head South towards the peak to a well-defined foot-pad. This pad leads through open eucalypt forest to the peak.


Spicers Peak The climb up Spicers Peak is very steep in sections and should not be attempted unless your a confident scrambler with a head for heights.

Main Range National Park is 116 km south-west of Brisbane and 50 km east of Warwick. The Cunningham Highway crosses the park at Cunningham's Gap.

Camping @ Main Range

There are two camping areas within the Main Range national Park and they're both in the Goomburra Section. Poplar Flat and Manna Gum camping areas they're open, grassy camping areas that hug Dalrymple Creek.
